Back to Bri Festival Long Weekend in October

A major new Narrabri community festival to be held on the October long weekend is to be launched this year.

The festival, ‘Back to the ‘Bri’ will aim to encourage former residents to return to town for the weekend, offer special shopping promotions and stage a carnival program of entertainment.

The impetus for the new festival came from the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce whose members saw the need to replace the Chamber’s traditional Maitland Street Christmas Carnival with a community event at a less climatically challenging time of year.

Chamber members have felt that Christmas weather is too hot and often too stormy to make the most of the function.

Many Carnival goers and shoppers have agreed.

The Chamber is planning ‘Back to the ‘Bri to be a ‘Narrabri inclusive’ weekend, drawing residents and visitors and encouraging former
    residents to return to town.

“It will be an all of Narrabri event,” said Chamber president Russell Stewart.

“We would like to see it become a weekend where ex-Narrabri people come back, visit family, meet friends and shop in town. It will be a community festival and a carnival weekend.”

The Chamber is planning a program of events to entertain and engage and encourage local shopping.
