Political Candidate Roy Butler will be in Wee Waa Friday 16th, November

Political Candidate Roy Butler will be in Wee Waa Friday 16th, November

I know that we're not better off with the National Party in Government.

Barwon is the largest electorate in New South Wales, and yet we keep being ignored.

Over the coming months, I want to hear about what matters to you in our area because every town and every community is different.

We could use the same level of funding and attention from being a marginal seat that Philip Donato brought to the Orange electorate.

Newell Highway 40km south of Narrabri near Pilliga closed after accident

Newell Highway 40km south of Narrabri near Pilliga closed after accident

Northern Daily Leader

A clean up effort is under way after a truck crash closed the Newell Highway near  Pilliga on Friday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the scene 40km south of Narrabri at 2.45pm after reports a truck had crashed and lost its load.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said crews arrived to find about 200 litres of petrol had been spilled as a result of the accident.

“A group of hazardous materials firefighters from Narrabri are on the scene at the moment and they are laying a blanket of foam to help absorb the spill,” the spokesman said.

“A 300m exclusion zone has been set up around the crash site to allow the firefighters to clean up the spill.

“At this stage, motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.”

SANTOS DENIES GOVERNMENT REQUEST

SANTOS DENIES GOVERNMENT REQUEST

Energy company Santos has come under fire, for refusing to provide the state government with key information about its Narrabri development.

The company recently submitted an application for the 95,000-hectare coal seam gas project.

But it’s reportedly refused multiple requests for information from the Environment Protection Authority, the Rural Fire Service and Narrabri Shire Council.

The company has also denied an EPA request to assess whether the site can accommodate large volumes of salt waste.
